Experience the potency and power of Ginseng

Eight Varieties of Ginseng

No other product we know of matches the potency of this extraordinary Ginseng extract. "500 Ginsengs" is made with Heaven Grade North and South Korean red ginseng, Heaven Grade Shu Chu Chinese Ginseng (Chiangbai Mountain Reserve), and Heaven Grade Emperors Tribute Red Ginseng. It also contains semi-wild Chinese Panax Ginseng (Chiangbai Mountain), wild Chiangbai Mountain Ginseng, wild Catskill Mountain American Ginseng,  semi-wild American Ginseng, wild Eleuthero Ginseng (Siberian Ginseng), and wild Himalayan Notoginseng. No other product in the world contains all of these varieties, recognized throughout the world as the finest sources of red, white and wild Ginseng in the world.

Eight varieties of Ginseng are extracted together to produce 500 Ginsengs. We call this product "500 Ginsengs" because when we first made this product (in the form it is today, but under a different name at the time) in 1994, we made it from 500 Ginseng roots, each hand selected to make the "perfect" Ginseng extract. To this day, each Ginseng root used to make 500 Ginsengs continues to be hand selected by Ron Teeguarden.

The nine varieties of Ginseng used to make 500 Ginsengs are the eight highest grade ginseng varieties available in the world (this is why 500 Ginsengs is such a unique and special product). 500 Ginsengs contains no flavors, fillers or additives of any sort.

500 Ginsengs is a blend of super-premium cultivated Ginseng roots and wild Ginseng roots. 500 Ginsengs does not contain any common commercial grade Ginseng roots. No other Ginseng product in the world (to our knowledge, which is fairly extensive), contains all these varieties of Ginseng. 500 Ginsengs contains Ginseng collected wild, wildcrafted and/or cultivated in China, North Korea, South Korea, Tibet, Bhutan and North America.

The following types of Ginseng are used in 500 Ginsengs.

Panax Ginseng (Chinese and Korean Ginseng) is one of the most famous and valued herbs used by mankind. It has been revered since deep antiquity by herbalists, holy men and women, emperors, martial artists, and seekers of great longevity, as the ultimate tonic herb. Panax Ginseng is an energy tonic that regulates the human energy system. It has been shown to be vivifying and regulatory to both the central nervous system and to the endocrine system. It is used to strengthen the functions of the respiratory and digestive systems, so that these systems become extremely efficient at producing Qi. Panax Ginseng is the primary Qi tonic of Chinese tonic herbalism.

Genuine, high grade Panax Ginseng helps a person to adapt to all kinds of stress, and enhances endurance and resilience under stressful conditions. It reduces the harmful effects of stress on the human body. It has thus been termed an "adaptogenic" substance by scientific researchers. Ginseng is also used to tonify cardiovascular, and sexual functions. Ginseng contains many active constituents, but the most important are the saponins called ginsenosides. Ginsenosides specifically improve adaptability and are believed to help build muscle and endurance. Therefore Ginseng is very popular with athletes. Ginseng generally has a "warm" energy.

Ginsenosides have profound influence on the human immune system. They are regulatory, and thus help in both excessive and deficiency situations. Ginsenosides are being studied around the world to determine their modus operandi in strengthening the human immune system.

There are in fact many varieties of Asian (Panax) Ginseng, all of which have distinct characteristics. Most high quality ginseng is good for men and women alike. The higher the quality, the more Shen (Spirit) a ginseng root is said to contain. Wild and semi-wild Ginseng, such as that contained in 500 Ginsengs, is generally considered to be far superior to the common cultivated, commercial varieties. However, there are a number of varieties of superb cultivated ginseng as well, that rival the potency and effectiveness of wild Ginseng. The best of these cultivated varieties are from the great Chiangbai Mountain biosphere in remote Manchuria (Northeast China), and from North and South Korea.

The best cultivated Ginseng is known as “Heaven Grade.” Most commercial Ginseng is grown with chemicals. Beware of cheap Ginseng products, because they are often made from immature roots that have imbalanced chemistry. These cheaper Ginseng products account for Ginseng’s unfortunate reputation for increasing tension or for causing headaches, or even high blood pressure in susceptible individuals. Mature, high quality Ginseng will not have any of these side effects because of their sublime chemical balance.

North Korean Heaven Grade Ginseng (Panax Ginseng): For centuries, North Korean Red Ginseng has been considered the best cultivated Ginseng in the world. Though the Chinese and South Koreans challenge this, the fact is that no better red Ginseng exists on the planet. North Korean Red Ginseng is yang and very warm in nature. It is thus very invigorating and empowering. Heaven grade is the highest grade of Ginseng available, so North Korean Heaven Grade Red Ginseng, certified by the government, is as good as it gets in terms of cultivated Ginseng. However, it is too hot and too yang for some people, and that is why it is best to blend it with yin herbs such as American Ginseng, as we have in 500 Ginsengs. North Korean Heaven Grade 15 Red Ginseng (the variety and size used in 500 Ginsengs) is a very yang form of Ginseng with a hot energy. It is a power herb that maintains and promotes warmth and physical vitality, and is believed in Asia to promote deep sexual vigor. Connoisseurs of Ginseng generally consider North Korean Heaven Grade Ginseng to be the best yang Ginseng in the world.  This is a mighty Ginseng - used by emperors, warriors, martial artists and athletes for centuries.

South Korean Heaven Grade Ginseng (Panax Ginseng): Extremely highly regarded, South Korean Ginseng that is certified by the Ministry of Health is of very high quality. South Korea produces both red and white Ginseng. White ginseng is peeled and sun dried. The better quality, older roots are steamed, which turns their color reddish brown, and thus the name "red Ginseng." Red Ginseng contains a number of very potent ginsenosides that are produced in the process of steaming, and are not available, or are available only in very small quantities, in white Ginseng. These naturally processed red roots are rich in ginsenosides, some of which are not even found in wild Ginseng roots. Some of these special ginsenosides have recently been found to have profound immune modulating activity. In particular, ginsenosides Rg3 and Rb1 are found in much higher quantities in Heaven grade red Ginseng than in white Ginseng or even wild Ginseng. These ginsenosides have been extensively researched and are currently the subject of intense research because of their potential benefits. Rg3 and Rb1 have been recently discovered to have extraordinary immune-boosting, health-protective activity in humans.

Emperor Preserved Ginseng (Panax Ginseng): This Ginseng acquired its name when the Emperor Kangxi of the Qing (Ching) Dynasty issued an imperial edict that all the Ginseng grown in Jingyu County (West slope of Chiangbai Mountain, Manchuria) be reserved exclusively for the use of the imperial family. It was thus grown exclusively for the Emperor of China and his family. The Emperor Preserved Ginseng is still collected from the same mountain plantations, and is processed using the most sophisticated technology. Tests by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture proved its quality to meet or exceed that of any other Red Ginseng in the world. In 1992, when it was introduced to the world after more than 50 years, it won the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions. This Ginseng is extremely rich in ginsenosides and immune modulating polysaccharides. It is believed to be especially beneficial for improving blood sugar regulation, easing fatigue, stimulating circulation in the veins and arteries and for nourishing the skin. Because the supply is very limited, this Ginseng is rarely found in America except in Dragon Herbs products (we have to go to China directly to get it, and must carry it back to the U.S.A. in small quantities).

Shu Chu Ginseng "First Pick" (Panax Ginseng):  has long been considered the highest grade of cultivated Ginseng that China has to offer (though Emperor Preserve Ginseng is now considered equivalent). This Ginseng is prized for its profound Qi-strengthening qualities. It is a superb adaptogenic. It is also the Ginseng of choice when one wishes to enhance mental and creative energy. "Shu Chu 15" is the best Ginseng grown from seed in China and "First Pick" roots are the cream of the crop.  These roots are grown from extremely potent wild stock seed in semi-wild Ginseng gardens in the famed and remote Shu Chu Valley of Changbai Mountain, just north of North Korea. Shu Chu roots are a mild variety of red Ginseng. They are steamed and dried, and as a result of this process, they are rich in potent red Ginseng ginsenosides, including Rg3 and Rb1, among others.

Chinese Chiangbai Mountain Wild Ginseng (Panax Ginseng C.A. Meyer): Wild Ginseng is still considered the ultimate Ginseng. Wild Ginseng, if it survives for more than 12 to 15 years, becomes almost invincible. Roots have been known to live more than two hundred years in the harsh climate of Manchuria. The older the root, the more potent it will be from a human health perspective. The more hardship a root has had to endure, the more ginsenosides and other constituents it will produce. The wild Ginseng roots used in 500 Ginsengs are all 20 years old or older. Roots that are over 30 years old are considered to be very old and fall into a category all of their own.  Roots that are forty five years old to  sixty five years old are incredibly rare --- however, just such long-lived roots are used in the 500 Ginsengs. Wild Chiangbai Mountain (Manchurian) Ginseng is the Orient's premier Shen tonic. Shen is human spiritual power. It has been the herb most sought by Daoist holy men and women (perhaps along with Reishi Mushroom), as well as by emperors and the men and women of the old imperial courts and by wealthy people throughout the world. It is believed to be a spiritually transformational substance. It is usually too expensive for most people to ever obtain, so the inclusion of a very significant quantity of these roots in this formula is a first. It is not a "hot" Ginseng, and is generally considered to be "neutral" in this regard. However, the potency of these roots is beyond dispute.

Manchurian Spirit Ginseng (Panax Ginseng C.A. Meyer): is a semi-wild variety of Ginseng. It is wildcrafted from wild seed at high altitude in remote forests of Chiangbai Mountain of Manchuria. It is almost indistinguishable in appearance, taste and function from totally wild Ginseng. It is a superb Qi tonic with potent immunological, neurological and respiratory effects in humans. It is also believed to contain enormous Shen and, almost as much as fully wild Manchurian Ginseng, has a mild nature - meaning it has virtually no toxicity and will cause no side effects in the vast majority of people.

American Ginseng (Panax Quinquefolium): American Ginseng is a major Yin tonic herb. Though it grows wild in North America, it is a true Ginseng. American Ginseng helps to moisten the tissues and is used especially as a lung tonic. It has anti-aging qualities. Many studies indicate that American Ginseng has powerful sugar regulating functions that would be useful for the majority of Americans. American Ginseng is even more popular than Chinese Ginseng. Wild American Ginseng is revered in the Far East. American Ginseng is widely cultivated, but, except for the very highest grades of cultivated American Ginseng grown in very harsh areas, the wild Ginseng is much superior. The best wild American Ginseng grows in the Catskill Mountains of upper New York. The pristine environment and harsh climate make it a perfect habitat for Ginseng. Catskill Mountain Wild American Ginseng is very, very rare, and collection is under the strict supervision of various governmental agencies. As a very potent yin tonic herb, Wild and Cultivated American Ginseng is a perfect counterbalance in 500 Ginsengs to the yang varieties of Ginseng from North and South Korea. 500 Ginsengs contains both superior grade cultivated and Wild American Ginseng in equal proportion.

Eleuthero Ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosus): Eleuthero, popularly (but not legally) known as Siberian Ginseng, grows wild in Siberia and northeast China. It is a relative of Panax Ginseng, and high quality Siberian Ginseng is an adaptogen of unsurpassed power. Though it is not considered to be a Shen tonic, like wild Panax Ginseng, it is a fabulous energy and blood tonic. It enhances oxygenation of the blood and thus increases endurance and general health. It is a major mental energy tonic. It is sometimes called Eleuthero Ginseng. It is a major athlete's herb.

Himalayan Ginseng (Panax Notoginseng): Notoginseng grows at high altitudes in the Himalayas and is known in Asia as the "herb for the preservation of life." Traditionally, in Asia, wild Panax Notoginseng was literally worth its weight in gold. It is a major blood tonic and blood vitalizing agent. It thus improves circulation and is believed in Asia to be especially beneficial to the heart and cardiovascular system. Notoginseng is rich in saponins that are very similar to those found in Panax Ginseng and in American Ginseng. Blended with the other varieties of Ginseng, Notoginseng contributes blood nourishing (yin) benefits and anti-aging effects that makes 500 Ginsengs much more than a mere Ginseng extract, but into a profound, multifaceted formulation made from the major varieties of Ginseng found throughout the world.
